I think it’s time for me to break my silence about Britney Spears. I’m getting too many emails.
I don’t care if she has a manny. Or that he is a Naval academy grad. And I could care less whether or not she wears an itsy bitsy teeny weeny bikini while 6 months pregnant (She’s definitely braver than I was when I was pregnant with my second child! More power to her.)
This is what I honestly don’t understand… Why did her publicist book her for the exclusive interview with Matt Lauer so she could defend herself and then not help her with her hair, makeup and wardrobe? Can someone tell me the reasoning behind that? So many questions — Why would her publicist let her go on television in a very unflattering maternity top, way too much makeup and a hair style which just confuses me. And why when she has way too many mood swinging pregnancy hormones?!?
I have gotten so many emails about that interview and while I wondered why anyone cared about my opinion… oh yeah, that’s right now I remember… I decided to just post my thoughts instead of writing everyone and responding to the good, the bad, and the oh so ugly.
Here are my thoughts in a nutshell about the Britney Spears incedents over the past few months and the interview -
When she initially was photographed driving with her son on her lap, I was contacted by a major newspaper to comment and I said I wouldn’t because as a celebrity having to deal with paparazzi hounding her, I figured she did it because she felt she was in danger and had to get away quickly. (And I know I personally would do anything to get my children out of harms way if I felt they were in danger.) Then that reporter let me in on a little secret … Britney had confessed earlier that day to just driving without putting her son in his rear facing car seat because she was “country”. Um ok. So much for me sticking up for her. lol
And then there was the high chair incident, and the walking in Manhattan and tripping as she held a glass of water/soda/tea incident. She is always in the media recently and it seems to always be something negative.
Then moms across the country started to come of out of the woodwork to defend Britney’s parenting skills.. her mothering abilities and bloggers have started to apologize for the mean things they said.
And I sit here admitting that the only parts of last night’s interview I saw were the clips I was shown while at the studio this morning. But believe me.. they were enough for me to be sure to not let either of my children attend a playdate hosted by Britney Spears until her life has the turn around she needs (and will eventually get.)
