For a cellular company who claims it has the “least dropped calls”, I would expect them to be able to just let me get my calls. After flying five and a half hours today, I get to the Four Seasons bright and early and ready to see friends for lunch and publicists for tea, and what do I get? Not a single call. Not a one.
So of course what do I do? I walk (yes, I said walk… I didn’t need the hotel to drive me around like they offered 50 million times) to Gearys which does nothing besides depress me because my days of $2,000 place settings are gone now that I have two amazingly adorable and sweet kids. (Sorry, I had to remind myself for sec…. lol)
Pass by Spago … Mmmmm yummy salad and soup. (Oh my, I’ve turned Spago into the Olive Garden…not my intention) and then back to the hotel where I watch (ok seriously, just glance up a few times as I read about food in Los Angeles magazine.. clearly people, I have a problem.) reruns of CHARMED … of all shows. No I’m not kidding and I saw this actor from one of the episodes today at The Cheesecake Factory (it’s across from Gearys) which I haven’t been to since I went with Roman and met his best friend for the first time (yes we are talking years) and I ate all his vegetables off the guy’s plate - without asking! (But then again, how do you ask someone you don’t know… can I eat those green beans you aren’t touching?)
So the actor - Ivan Sergei - who was on Jack & Jill with Amanda Peet (so why didn’t his career take off after the show flopped?!) was with his agent or his best friend’s aunt who could have been a real estate agent… Clearly not a date. And he dressed so well…. I wonder where he got that suit.
Anyway back at the hotel.. still no calls. None. No lunches… No teas. Nothing. Until I wake in the morning and figure out these people aren’t all busy that much and hear 144 messages of “where are you? Thought your plane landed at 10. checking in about lunch, etc.” Mostly from my “frantic Jewish mother” Laine - love her! So funny. But Jess, Tracey and half of LA who knew I was coming into town also called. I feel special again…. And then I look at the room service table still in my room because I devoured one side of the entire in room dining menu during the night in my moment of depression where I felt no one loved me enough to have an omlette with me.
I am loved. But now I have a stomach the size of Kansas because I ate like a piglet and didn’t care that I brought a 10 year old (pre-children) dress which wasn’t forgiving to wear to the party. Ah who cares… that soup, salad, crème brulee and guacamole was fabulous. And after washing it down with Pellegrino and peppermint tea, it can’t be all that bad for me. (I’ll just keep telling myself that while you check out their in room dining menu and see if you wouldnt have done the same.)
