It’s President’s Day.
I’m observing the holiday by working on my laptop at home while watching Oobi with Luke.
Nintendo Wii more of an activity you would enjoy with your kid?
Well then - lucky you.
I have a brand spanking new Nintendo Wii and several games in my sample closet.
And I’m giving it away.
![]()
Completely FREE. No strings attached.
I never give away anything on this here blog, No Minivan, Just Moxie
(just through the contest section of my Savvy Mommy website)
It’s about time I start letting my mommy blog readers win prizes. Fabulous prizes.
It’s an effort to bring out the lurkers, who read my blog and then email me funny comments instead of posting them.
(Come on, the world agrees with you. Don’t be shy. Post that snarky retort!)
If you want the Nintendo Wii for you, your friends or even to give away to someone else,
you’ll have to post a comment within in the next 24 hours.
Answer this question as a comment below:“When you were growing up, what was your favorite video game to play?”
My question assumes you were born during a certain time. I know. Sorry.
Want to know my answer?I sucked at Nintendo Super Mario Bros.
It wasn’t until 1989 when Revenge of the Gator (a pinball game) was released for Game Boy that I won anything besides Pac Man.
And now for the important information - the rules for my *No Minivan Just Moxie* Nintendo Wii contest
- Post a comment stating your favorite video game to play growing up. Explain what it was about if it wasn’t a well known game.
(And if you remember – say if you played it on Atari or Nintendo, etc.)
- Make sure to include your blog name if you have one or your email address so I know who won.
Check back for the winner, chosen tomorrow, February 19th after 9AM EST.
I’ll post more blog contests in the future.

I never had Nintendo, Atari or Sega, but I did own a Texas Instruments game panel, and there were a few games that I would often play. Many are obscure, because Texas Instruments never took off as a game console. There was one game called Pascal, I think. It was a starship that traveled from left to right shooting other spaceships in its path. Also, whenever I went to the arcade on the New Jersey boardwalk as a kid, I would often play this “elevator action” game where a private investigator would travel down an elevator in an apartment building shooting bad guys.
If I win, I would definitely play with the Wii since I feel deprived not owning a “named brand” game console.
I would also bring it with me whenever I visited my folks who are taking care of my grandmother who has Alzheimer’s. I’d like to see if grandmother would enjoy playing with the wii. She’s pretty far gone with her illness and if she responds favorably with the Wii, then I might give the Wii to my folks for her to play, or at the very least, I’d buy a 2nd console myself so we can both have a Wii.

I loved the Super Mario Brothers for the Nintendo Entertainment system…still one of the best games made!

Seems like I got to this giveaway after the deadline (9AM today), but in case this contest is still going on, I’d like to add my 2 cents.
I used to play Nintendo’s Duck Hunt all the time. I was always amazed at how you could point the gun at the TV and it would know if you shot the duck or not. If I win, I’d give it to my children to play (which includes my husband ;-). I ‘d love to give my kids the kind of interactive video game play I used to enjoy when I went digital duck hunting as a kid.

For me, I lived and dreamt Pac-Man. When they came out with the table version of Ms Pac-man, I thought I was going to die.

I know I already missed this (by a long shot), but I just found your site today, so I thought I would answer just for the heck of it. My favorite is a toss up between Pole Position (car racing game) and Pac Man, both on Atari. They were the only ones I was good at. I sucked at Super Mario.
