This is a great cause. I supported them during the Bloggers Challenge earlier this year. The one Christmas gift I wanted from my mother was a Cabbage Patch doll. She refused to wait in crazy lines for one.

As child, the Christmas/Hanukkah gift I wanted but never received was a cute, little pink bike. (Instead, I got a big, red one that I never rode!)

…an Automoblox mini T9 pick-up. Seriously, it was a Legos set. The worst part was I was so thrilled to get a Legos box for Christmas when I was 9 years old. I was all “In your face” to my little brother, whose mercy I was left to because he had the Legos. The problem? It was an old Legos box that my mom used to box up a beach towel. Sigh.

A great idea. But if I win, please donate the $10 from the toy instead of sending it to me.

The gift I wanted but never received was a Barbie Pink Ferrari. My mother didn’t think it was worth the money! She was probably right.

As child, the Christmas/Hanukkah gift I wanted but never received was a white Christmas. I grew up in Dallas and always dreamed of having a white Christmas like in all the movies.

Baby sister. I was fourteen when my mom finally told me to give it up, that she’d had her tubes tied when I was two and my brothers were born.

The christmas present I asked for was a horse of course! My cousins lived on a horse farm and I could never understand why they had so many and I couldn’t have at least one.

The christmas present I never got was a real deal telescope. I could not have been more than 8 when my mom tried to convince me that a telescope from KB Toys was going to show me the planets. I still think about getting one every now and then.

I always wanted a Barbie Dream House, but my parents felt it was just too much money for a huge hunk of plastic. They were probably right, but nevertheless I know if my girls want one someday I’ll get it for them!

I was such a tomboy that no one believed I wanted it and so accident prone that it just wasn’t a good look anyway.

A live Triceratops, preferably the size of a small cat.

But Santa didn’t come through for me on that. Something about extinction and genetic modification….

one of those motorized cars – my bro got one, the HotWheels BigFoot – I got an easy bake oven instead. So sad!

As child, the Christmas/Hanukkah gift I wanted but never received was a NKOTB watch in pink (I got one in black and was forever jealous of my friend’s hot pink one!)

That was hard, I think I must have been lucky to get the one gift I really wanted every year as a child — the complete set of Barbie and the Rockers with tour bus, a cabbage patch doll, ice skates, etc. Either I was fortunate or I just have a bad memory!

My family is Jewish, but I always wanted a tree in our house to decorate. I never got one, but now as an adult I am glad that my not very observant parents stuck with Jewish traditions.

It was one of those nylon handbags, the designer name I forget; this was early to mid-eighties and I was just turning a teenager. At the time it was the most important thing and now I cannot even remember the freaking brand name! Very preppy, must have item that I said I would die if I didn’t get. I didn’t get it and I’m still here.

What an amazing cause, my mother taught kindergarten to inner city kids in Manhattan for almost 40 years. I grew up privileged and went to private school, I would go visit my moms school and the conditions were so different from what I experienced at my school. The children loved my mother and she loved them. She always spent quite a bit of her own money on her classroom and did things for her students like buying them clothes , shoes or donating items that formerly belonged to my sister and me. For year after one student had been out of her class she religiously brought Easter clothes for the girls and her siblings, she did this until the girl was in high school.

My younger sister was inspired by her and for a time was a special ed teacher. One Christmas a few years ago went holiday shopping, I watched my sis , who is a single mom, carefully select individual gifts for each of her 10 students.

I really hope you raise the thousand $- I will pass this along.

The gift I wanted but didn’t get was a Tiffany Taylor doll- does that totally date me? If you don;t know it was this larger than life doll, like a bigger Barbie and about two feet tall- the big ting was that her head and hair could be flipped around to be blond or brunette. I think I whined so much that I got it 3 months later for my birthday and then proceeded to give her a hair cut that, like all dolls, ended up looking like a mohawk. How is it that no matter how many dolls hair we cut, we think the next one is actually NOT going to look like a mohawk but it does???
