I’m like a NyQuil commercial over there.

Woke up this morning all sniffling sneezing coughing aching (and probably a little lazy and whiny) with a stuffyhead.

A nice way to start the new year right?

Well I suppose it could be worse. I don’t have a fever.

Took some liquid Tylenol (let’s see if it really should be called Rapid Liquid Blast!) and hope that this cold whatever this is is short lived.

But the fact I find the box of tissues to be too far away maybe an indication that either the next few days are going to be dreadful or that I’m being cranky and lazy since it’s just a little after eight and I should be asleep.

While I’m on the topic of sleep, I would really like to bribe someone to come over here and take the kids out for the day — to the park, to a kid friendly restaurant, anywhere but within earshot, because sometimes the sounds of delightful children can still aggravate mamas with head colds. Those sounds become anything but delightful.

Sadly, I checked the weather before I dialed my mother’s number and its 14 degrees feeling like 4 out so I couldn’t do that to them (or to her!). I’ll just have to try and rest with them home. Maybe I’ll serve them up a steady diet of Noggin in the morning – which is possible now that Time Warner and Viacom made a last minute agreement … phew! — and then fill the afternoon with our newest holiday tradition –Nintendo Wii bowling.

My five year old has gotten some pretty amazing scores for never playing Wii Sports before a week ago!

I’m back to work on Monday (you can just feel my happiness can’t you!?) so there’s enough time for me to recover if I need it.

Car Song - New Year’s Day by U2  “I will begin again”

Next stop - Tomorrow morning I’m taking Miss Nat to an Off Broadway musical for kids called Dear Edwina. I’ve been trying to spend more one on one time with Miss Nat and this play looks like fun.
