This morning, while packing up some Valentines for Miss Nat’s classmates I realized something – and it wasn’t, gee this girl is pretty popular if she told me she still needs to write eight more valentines.

I realized there is nothing sweeter than Valentine’s Day when you are a child. Or maybe I just remembered that fact.
Everyone receives a valentine. There are no hurt feelings. And you never once look at a box of candy and think “Really!?!”
Stickers make your day. A heart shaped note in your lunchbox makes you smile. The pink cupcake you devour tastes delicious and you don’t think about your hips a few minutes later.
Dinner on Valentine’s Day is never disappointing and rushed because the waiter wants to turn the table for the next seating. You aren’t looking
I already know I’m in charge of my plans this year for Valentine’s Day. And it annoys me that it’s up to me. *sigh*

Just like my kids do now, I always loved making those cards and giving them to all my classmates. And nothing ever topped one of those little Sweetheart hearts with “Friends 4ever” on it. Now? I’d rather just skip it, thanks.

I wish I’d thought of this sooner, but I’d love to send handmade valentines to all *my* friends. Just because. I’m going to make that a goal for next yr. Lets start our own little valentine co-op! I think I will get myself one of those little mailboxes to decorate and store MY valentines in.
Yes I know I am going to get a ugly humor section card from the supermarket this year (possibly more than one if dh takes the kids) and bad chocolate. You are so right on! Dinner out won’t be much of an option. But I can take back the handmade valentines, can’t I? Next yr? You in?
