February 2009 Archives

After weeks of deciding, I’m staying put on Valentine’s Day.

The one week Ruby Princess cruise leaving today just wasn’t meant to be. Well, it was. It’s just not the right time for me.

Because anything that smells of a real vacation slips through my fingers, often at the last minute.

And my quick little trip to LA also wasn’t meant to be so I’m staying in New York this weekend.

Yesterday when I was leaving a Fashion Week Suite at the Bryant Park Hotel I walked by a few windows that were truly getting into the Valentine’s Day spirit.

Or not. Bitter much?

And this one is downright creepy.

Either way, Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your sweetheart.

“Valentine’s Day is just another day”

A Facebook friend told me that. And you know Facebook friends are smart.

So believe what he told me.

Even if deep down you’d rather be at Plunder with your Jack Donaghy eating a $1,000 dessert instead of at home watching The Notebook for the umpteenth time.

Yes, today is Friday the 13th.

You know, the day you don’t get out of bed or fly if you are very superstitious.

I decided last night to not fly today but I got out of bed early.

And I’m happy I did.

Went to the Heart Truth Red Dress Collection 2009 show at the Tent in Bryant Park starting New York Fashion Week.

And I twittered as Lynda Carter, Nia Long, Cicely Tyson, Amanda Bynes and other dolled up celebs walked the catwalk in order to draw awareness to the fact heart disease is the number one killer of women.

Headed over to Matt Meyerson’s Expose Fashion Week Suite at Bryant Park Hotel and met Karelle Levy, the designer of Krelwear.

She made me a dress on the spot.

I love it so much I probably won’t take it off until it is time to go to bed. Seriously.

I’m thinking of RSVPing to an event just so I can wear this particular dress.

I’ve worn it everywhere today. Even to Carl Schurz Park where a random passerby took a photo of me. (Thanks again!)

And I got back to a delivery of the cutest homemade cupcakes for Valentine’s Day. Can’t go wrong with buttercream frosting!

Today was probably the best Friday the 13th ever.

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow.

So here’s a chance to win a product I absolutely love, adore, really don’t want to think about living without in my house.

I’m giving away an HP Wireless Photosmart C6380 All in One Printer Scanner Copier.

That’s right. Wireless.

To enter this contest, all you have to do is check out my review of the HP Wireless Photosmart C6380 All in One Printer Scanner Copier.

Then leave a comment explaining how it will help you live wirelessly.

As parents, the opportunities are endless.

I’m sure you’ll love this HP printer, too.

Now click here for your chance to win one.

And if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go print some photos of my youngest son “reading” to my mother.

This morning, while packing up some Valentines for Miss Nat’s classmates I realized something – and it wasn’t, gee this girl is pretty popular if she told me she still needs to write eight more valentines.

I realized there is nothing sweeter than Valentine’s Day when you are a child. Or maybe I just remembered that fact.

Everyone receives a valentine. There are no hurt feelings. And you never once look at a box of candy and think “Really!?!”

Stickers make your day. A heart shaped note in your lunchbox makes you smile. The pink cupcake you devour tastes delicious and you don’t think about your hips a few minutes later.

Dinner on Valentine’s Day is never disappointing and rushed because the waiter wants to turn the table for the next seating.  You aren’t looking

I already know I’m in charge of my plans this year for Valentine’s Day. And it annoys me that it’s up to me. *sigh*
