1. It’s important to say what you need to say.

Which shouldn’t be confused with saying what you want to say.

When your heart (or when a feeling in your gut) tells you to speak up, go for it.

If you do, you will never have any feelings of regret.

  2. Actions speak louder than words.

Words can be very easy for some people (especially those in certain professions) to say.

Then again, so can actions. But it’s important to really show how you feel. Not just say it.

Do something. It truly is easier said… than done. Show how much you care. Or its very clear you don’t.

  3. Meals should only be missed when you are fasting for a good reason.

On that same note, extra food should only be shoveled into your mouth if you are preparing for a marathon of some sort.

Rapid weight gain or weight loss is unhealthy. And what you’re eating is probably not being enjoyed at all.

Missing out on truly enjoying a great meal is a travesty. So don’t get all crazy with food or vino for that matter.

  4. Tears should only be shed because someone has stopped breathing.

When your friends and family are alive and well, there is no need to shed tears about anything else.

That shouldn’t be confused with feelings of sadness. Feel sad about a missed opportunity or something dear that was lost.

If you are truly grateful for what you have, you’ll start to appreciate it and only shed necessary tears.

  5. Be a true friend.

Check in with friends even when you don’t need to talk with them about something happening in your life.

When you do have something going on in your life, your real friends will be there for you.

Be that person for your friends. Even in small ways. A text, a tweet, a comment, a call can be all someone needs to get by.

  6. Stress doesn’t belong in your vocabulary.

Find ways to get it out of your life when it appears. It can make you sick or cranky. And really just take over your life.

Send out your resume and search for a new job. Change careers and never look back. Move away from the in-laws who ruin nights of sleep.

Making a change in your life to minimize the stress can do wonders. Start with the mini-vacation you’ve never had. Or an hour alone.

  7. Be open and honest with yourself.

Know what you want. Set realistic and unrealistic goals. Don’t be afraid to dream. Reach high.

Remember through all this be true to yourself. Don’t accept anything less than what you deserve.

This may mean you’ll have to be brave at times, but you’ll find that once you get through something where you’ve had to be brave, you’ll feel amazing.

And have confidence you’ll never want to lose. It’ll fuel future endeavors and help you get through everything.

This weekend, these are the seven things I know – and most importantly believe with all of my heart.
