If I go there will be trouble
And if I stay it will be double.
Since January, I’ve been asked by publicists and other bloggers if I am going to BlogHer 09.
Figured I would just let everyone know what’s going on.
And not because I think anyone besides my mother reads this blog because I’m sure I’ll be asked dozens more times before July.
Right before BlogHer 09 sold out, I registered this little blog, Veep Veep for the conference.
So just in case I wanted to attend I could.
Instead of just saying NO and then regretting my decision come July.
As of right now, I am a step closer to going to BlogHer than I was last year at this time.
But I haven’t bought airline tickets to Chicago or reserved a room at the Sheraton yet.
I saw the CheeseburgHer party information sent out over Twitter the other day and I’d love to witness it.
I mean, I’ve never been to a party that most likely will get shut down 30 minutes after it starts.
And I’ve already said 2009 would undoubtedly be full of firsts for me.
(Trust me, three months in.. it has been… many times over. LOL)
The reason I would go to BlogHer is because it will be nice to meet all the amazing bloggers who email and exchange tweets with me every day.
And with all the conferences out there every month, I thought it would be nice to go to once started by three cool chickies.
There are unfortunately two things that has me hesitant about attending this year.
-
High school hasn’t ended for a lot of people. There is always some blogger drama being talked about on Twitter. I’m more of the person who stays away from the craziness than one who tries to be a part of the cool clique.
- Many people are going to BlogHer because they are being sponsored by a brand. Am I going to walk up to someone and say Hi only to hear a conversation about X brand since she has to talk about the people who paid her way to the conference? Or is that the norm and I be looking for a BlogHer sponsor? I mean besides the radical idea of just having my own company sponsor my trip.
Sadly, after all those thoughts, I have no final answer about BlogHer.
I’m still undecided.
Are you going to BlogHer 2009? Still deciding?
Leave me a comment so I can either say Hi to you when I’m there. Or read about your experience on your blog when you get back from Chicago.

I am going. I, too, have my own company and am sponsoring my own trip. I do realize many bloggers, especially in this economy cannot make such a trip on their own.
This will be my third BlogHer. After the first one, I felt some of the high school cliquishness, but last year it felt more like I was reconnecting with old friends.
I say join in on the fun.
On the other hand, a different set of three cool women is planning this conference http://www.blogaliciousweekend.com/ which should be a good time, too.

This will be my first time attending BlogHer. I am excited about meeting all of my blogging/twitter friends. I admire you and so many women out in the blogosphere that it will be a wonderful and fun opportunity to connect in real life.
I have also witnessed twitter/blog wars but I too stay away from the drama. The cliques I think are to be expected, if only because people are more comfortable hanging with the folks that they know and sometimes are kind of shy about branching out from the “known” into the “unknown.”
In any event, I hope to see you at BlogHer!

There are 1,100 attendees. Sponsorship is not the norm by any means. And as you said, you have the choice to just stay away from the drama - there isn’t a 1,099 person large clique just leaving out one person, I promise!

I’d sponsor you in a heartbeat, except I’ve already committed to sponsoring myself. Still. Will be more than happy to raid the coin jar and buy you a fruity drink, or two. If you go, I mean. Otherwise, we’ll just have to FINALIZE our Cafe 34 plans…dangit!
