Yesterday morning, Miss Nat had a play date with her friend at the nail salon in her friend’s neck of the woods. So off we went on the 6 to Dashing Diva in Brooklyn.

It was nice for them to catch up after not seeing each other for a whole week (ha!) and a great excuse for a little mani maintenance. Sure I had a Spa Belles manicure (in essie Sugar Daddy) on Wednesday afternoon with Jessica after lunch but sadly my manicures only last a few days thanks to all the rummaging I do in my sample closet to get ready for product segments. (Oh the glamorous life I live).

The play date started out well…

Miss Nat caught up on an issue of W while she waited for her friend to arrive.

The girls picked out their colors.

Both settled on Roxanne’s Ruby Slippers. A cute sparkly color I suggested to Miss Nat instead of City that Never Sleeps. A little too dark for a five year old.

But when it was time for me to choose a color I decided to do something I had never done before.

Go bold.

How bold? Let’s just say in my life I have never had hot pink finger nails but I had just chosen the Elsa Schiaparelli of pinks.

It was definitely shocking Barbie Gone Wild. Except the name was something like Felicia’s Fuschia.

Out of all the colors I could have chosen I chose to try and match the floor tile.

As my nails were drying and my friend sat next to me laughing while her light lavender painted nails dried, I remembered I have two events this week where wearing Ballet Slippers or Mademoiselle would be more appropriate. Ooops.

I blame the color choice on the downpour of rain I walked through to get to the nail salon, will wear the color tonight to The Plaza but will probably polish change tomorrow back to Starter Wife on my lunch hour.

I will say for the few hours I’ve worn this color, it’s made me smile .. without fail.. every time I look at it. Must be how Barbie got Ken.
