Summer makes me … well, happy as clam. Except I’ve never had a clam before!
So when I heard the New York area stop for the Mohawk Flooring License to Spill tour was at the Highlands Clam Festival, I got so excited about attending. Time to cross another thing off my Summer 2013 bucket list!
I took a quick trip out to Highlands, New Jersey (my first time there!) to meet everyone from Mohawk — the world’s largest flooring manufacturer. It’s flooring products are sold through retail partners.
I couldn’t wait to test the Mohawk SmartStrand carpet. Mohawk SmartStrand carpet has permanent stain and soil resistance that never wears off. The stain protection is built into the carpet fiber itself unlike other carpet brands that have treatments applied topically to the fiber and tend to wear off due to wear and tear.
At the License to Spill demo area I sprayed red wine and some extremely strong smelling soy sauce on Mohawk SmartStrand carpet. They had a variety of options of everyday messes for us to choose from.
Then Max just washed it off with some water. Yep. If I didn’t have hardwood floors, I would have signed up right then and there for Mohawk SmartStrand carpet in our apartment! It’s no wonder that carpet ranked #1 in customer satisfaction!
I love that you don’t need to use a carpet cleaner or harsh chemicals to remove stains from SmartStrand carpet. All you need is a dishrag, warm water and dish soap. And have I mentioned how soft SmartStrand feels!? Heavenly!
Starting to fall in love with SmartStrand? If you head over to the License to Spill site you can enter to win a 6’ X 9’ SmartStrand Silk bound carpet rug!
While I’ve had the pleasure of shooting segments with JD Roberto (and my girl Audra!) at Better TV, it was my first time meeting HGTV interior decorator Taniya Nayak. And after she declared my skin the clearest she’s ever seen, she was put on the fast track to becoming my best friend.
The goal of my visit to the Highlands Clam Festival was to eat a clam (outside of New England Clam Chowder) for the first time. Not steamed…. raw… just have one so I could cross ‘Eat a raw clam’ off my Summer 2013 Bucket List.
I stopped by the Bahr’s Landing booth to try their famous clams. Chef Jay Cosgrove was off getting ready to make seven seafood chili dogs over at the License to Spill booth so he wasn’t at his restaurant booth to give me that little extra bit of encouragement I think I needed.
So in the end, I wasn’t ready to try a raw clam. But I tried something else I’ve never tried before… a shrimp Po’ Boy. Thankfully I wasn’t the only one ordering shrimp at a clam festival. Diane ordered shrimp and chips!
No matter, I had fun at the New York area License to Spill tour stop. Check out the Mohawk Flooring website to see where their carpet showdown will turn up next!
