If you promise not to blink you can see me providing commentary on VH1′s The Fabulous Life of Brad and Angelina airing tonight at 8:30PM EST and repeating 203,035 times throughout June.

Ahh.. that Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt. What a life she was born into.

After literally being pulled from my laptop in order to arrive on time for a seminar my friend Jen Groover was teaching, I jumped in a cab and headed over to the East Side.

Of course, because I have incredible luck anytime I need to go somewhere, I pick a cab driver who doesn’t realize he’s going the wrong way so he stops the meter (a common practice when they screw up) and now starts going the right way. While stopped at a stop light, the taxi “available” light was on (since it goes on when the meter is stopped) and I was busy writing down some thoughts I needed to remember to email.

My cab door opens. A certain celebrity dad who is now I think a stay at home dad realized I was sitting there despite the “available” light and said something I think was a “I’m so sorry”. He smiled, closed back the door and jumped into the empty cab in front of us.

Of course all of this happened before I could remember I had Savvy Mommy postcards in my bag and should have given him one. What are the chances

Because everyone else is giving their two cents about the birth of Angelina and Brad’s baby, I thought I would take a different route from everyone else when I said my piece. I wouldn’t “ooh” and “ahhh” over the fact reports state Shiloh has “tufts of Angelina’s hair” or has a nose resembling Brad’s.

I’ll instead focus on two things showing up in the papers which are starting to annoy me. (It also happened when Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes had their baby.)

1. Insensitive comments -
Jon Voight’s (Angelina’s dad) comment takes the cake.
“His spokesman told America’s New York Times newspaper that Voight is excited and “can’t wait to hold the baby in his arms and be a grandpa”.”

So Maddox and Zahara aren’t considered his grandchildren? And before you say, well… Shiloh is her first “real” child… please just move far away from me so I don’t have to sting you a look of death from my “runaway bride” eyes. Shiloh is Brad and Angelina’s youngest child. They have three children — Maddox, Zahara and Shiloh.

2. Boston Herald
The “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” co-stars holed up in Namibia with their two adopted children, Maddox, 4 and Zaharah, 1, before the birth of Shiloh to avoid being the center of media attention.

First… they couldn’t have been just staying in Namibia with their two other children? “Holed up” is the phrase to use because I guess a luxury resort usually dredges up “holed up” thoughts. Somehow I don’t think people who stay two months at the Four Seasons on South Doheny are said to be “holed up”.

And secondly, why do reporters have to constantly focus on the fact Angelina and Brad’s first two children are adopted? Most of the articles are mentioning that fact in the articles they are running about the birth of Baby Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt.

Why make Maddox and Zahara feel different? As far as I know .. adopted children need to be picked up from soccer practice and want their parents to read them bedtimes stories, too. Couldn’t any of the papers just say they were staying at the resort with their other children for the past 2 months while they awaited the arrival of Shiloh? I can’t pick an adopted child out of a group of children playing at the playground so why must everyone constantly brand them “adopted” instead of just dropping the word and just saying children?

You really just have to laugh at society sometimes. It can be so warped and cruel. Welcome to our world Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, it sure is something.

Luke and Natalie accompanied me and their Nana to the annual Kids for Kids Family Carnival for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation today. I don’t even know how to describe this event so you can fully understand it.

FOOD:
One minute your being handed a plate and are standing on a line to taste nibbles (and not so little portions of food) from dozens of restaurants including Bao Noodles, Super Dogs, Citrus Bar, Better Burger, Dos Caminos and Serendipity 3 and the next minute you are looking for a table to sit amongst Steve Schrippa. Speaking of the food, beverages and snacks offered… it was endless from cheesecake and vegamite sandwiches (no I’m not kidding) to burgers, pizza, dumplings and fruit. I took Natalie around to see what she wanted and besides the Frozen Hot Chocolate and a bite of pizza she wasn’t interested. Natalie didn’t want to miss a minute of the fun. She did take my quesadilla (from the bite I had, I can see why. Really good.) and enjoyed a little Elmo Surprise ice cream from Max and Mina ice cream which I think was vanilla, strawberry and coconut. It mostly melted on her Limesicle tee from Loopy tees. Ironic, I know. An IZZE beverage tent was outside so she picked a grapefruit blend and drank it without a straw. Seriously, today was Natalie’s day to tell everyone she was a big girl. She had a snack bag from Kashi but didn’t understand why I was holding a big pink poof on a stick.. so the cotton candy was trashed after she just wanted to ball it up in her hands.

FASHION:
The wings. Everyone was decorating wings (or capes reminiscent of Super Grover’s cape). Natalie decorated hers (pink ones with glitter and other pretty additions.) with Nana while I took Lukie to the Forty Weeks Giggle lounge. The Forty Weeks Giggle lounge was a space I would have never found if Gina of Forty Weeks wasn’t walking around hanging lil dipper wipes out to moms. Luke was cranky (yeah, I know that doesn’t seem right huh) and it was the perfect space to take him. He was lounging on the changing table and I took off his shoes (which I left there!) so he was a little more comfortable. It really was a shame that the Forty Weeks Giggle lounge wan’t placed in a better area because it was really the ideal space to calm down from the fun.

FUN:
Storytelling by Whoopi Goldberg (who left immediately after she was done reading), themed games with Chuck Zito (when I think kid’s event, I think Chuck Zito don’t you? Oh let me shush before Charlie’s Angels come after me.), Carson Kressley and Allison Stewart were playing a game where you roll a ball from the top and try and get it into the right spot (I must have lived a sheltered life… anyone know the name of that game? It’s not skeet ball. It’s more like Pliko that Price is Right game… Yes, I watched Price is Right when I was little and at my grandmother’s house.) Power Rangers walked around and stopped for photos with the kids but Natalie didn’t know who they were so she kept going. Face painting and picture painting opportunities were all over. Aida Turturro, Edie Falco, Miss Universe and Elizabeth Hurley were around doing their own thing. Every few feet you walked you saw a celebrity and a few reality stars were walking around enjoying the day. I’m not exactly sure what Jason Patric was doing because everytime I saw him he was with his celebrity escort but he was there and he looks 1,000 times better in person.

And when were leaving the each of the kids got an orange Kenneth Cole gift bag full of product and a choice of any toy from the Target toy area. Toys were handed out by Helena Christiansen.

It was a really nice day for kids and a great cause to support. I was hoping to be able to check out the LA event in June (different celebrity heros and activities) but I’m not sure if my schedule will have me out there the same weekend.
