Last week Sean and I took Fox to the American Museum of Natural History (before the museum opened to the public) to participate in a field trip hosted by Kleenex.
Since the museum is on the Upper West Side — my childhood stomping ground — I’ve been visiting for years. And this field trip marked Fox’s second visit to the American Museum of Natural History. (It’s never too early for a little culture!)
Many families aren’t as lucky and rely solely on school field trips so their children can visit cultural institutions. Which is where Kleenex comes in! For the 2011 – 2012 school year, Kleenex is committing $500,000 to their Kleenex Save the Field Trips Initiative that helps fund school field trips as part of educational curriculum.
We met the curator of the museum and took a tour. Last time we visited the museum with the kids, we concentrated mostly on the dinosaurs and the Dinosaur exhibit that was about to open. While we saw the dinosaurs again, this time we focused on the Frogs exhibit.

Despite being at the museum before we had never seen a feeding in the Frogs exhibit. Those tongues are fast!

Some of the frogs were quite beautiful, while others looked like something I wouldn’t want the kidlets to touch.

Even six month old Fox showed interest in the frogs.

As a child, I went on field trips every year in school. And my children go on several field trips a year with their school. But not every child is that fortunate. Take a minute and head over to Facebook and nominate a school in the Kleenex Field Trips Sweepstakes to win $5,000 in field trip funding. It’ll make a lot of children happy.
Disclosure: I was compensated for participating in Kleenex Field Trips a sponsored campaign coordinated by The Motherhood.
