Every time publicists pitch me their client’s product and then demand that it be returned after the segment is taped, I always decline to show their product. And I even hear this request from publicists representing $5 items.

A producer friend of mine has a few choice words when people tell her she has to return product and while I can’t repeat what she says here; I personally always politely tell them it benefits their client to leave the product sample in my sample closet. Why? Because I’m often called last minute to tape a television segment or do a live segment (Still can’t believe I was up when I was called at 2AM to do a last minute segment!)

The producer sometimes has an idea of what they would like me to show. Other times, they just want me to bring products I have and create a segment with a timely theme. And that is why it is my belief that smart companies finish first.

Here are the companies that were included in tomorrow’s 5 o’clock CBS News segment here in Manhattan. They all have founders or reps who were smart enough to never ever question that leaving product with me in case an opportunity arose was the right thing to do. It allowed me to tape the segment this morning without making frantic calls asking for product to be messengered to me if the company was in Manhattan. And if they weren’t located in Manhattan, they would have totally just missed out.

You’re too famous.

That’s what my friend said to me as she explained why the morning show told her I didn’t make the cut for the fashion show she is putting on next week on their show.

Yea ok. Me… Famous. The chicky who belongs on the Z list even if Kathy Griffin is on the D list. *sigh*

No seriously.. oh and you work for a competing network.

That’s just bulls—, I replied. Because I bounce from network to network (including theirs!) without a problem all the time. I can’t see how that should prevent me from wearing some clothing in order to prove there is such a thing as a hot mom.

But since I’m a good friend I asked around and found some great women in the tri-state area who would be interested in strutting their sexy mama selves and then asked via a business source if anyone else would be interested just to make sure my friend had enough moms to model. I hope they make the cut.

I’ll admit to watching Saved by the Bell. Briefly. But not the New Class or the College Years or any of the really odd TV movies where I think Zach married Kelly. Or maybe he married Jesse. Or did A.C marry Jesse?

Goodness, I remember just a little too much about a show which included a nerd named Screech and his crush Lisa Turtle. (There must not be enough going on in my life for me to remember this information so well.)

Well, it seems like Dustin Diamond who played Screech… (yes folks, he is still around after that 98 Degrees video cameo.) is going to lose his house in Wisconsin (huh?!) if he doesn’t sell 30,000 shirts (no, not 300 shirts.. 30,000) in a month.

Selling 1,000 shirts a day seems a little impossible for someone who hasn’t done a television show (non reality show related) in at least 10 years.. Now if Angelina Jolie or George Clooney decided to sell a shirt online for charity, I don’t think they would have a problem selling 30,000 shirts in a month.

Sorry Dustin. It’s probably time to call your family and tell them you will soon be moving back in. After all… if they did take all but 25% of your $2 million series earnings, it’s probably not that bad of a couch you will be crashing on.

I think it’s time for me to break my silence about Britney Spears. I’m getting too many emails.

I don’t care if she has a manny. Or that he is a Naval academy grad. And I could care less whether or not she wears an itsy bitsy teeny weeny bikini while 6 months pregnant (She’s definitely braver than I was when I was pregnant with my second child! More power to her.)

This is what I honestly don’t understand… Why did her publicist book her for the exclusive interview with Matt Lauer so she could defend herself and then not help her with her hair, makeup and wardrobe? Can someone tell me the reasoning behind that? So many questions — Why would her publicist let her go on television in a very unflattering maternity top, way too much makeup and a hair style which just confuses me. And why when she has way too many mood swinging pregnancy hormones?!?

I have gotten so many emails about that interview and while I wondered why anyone cared about my opinion… oh yeah, that’s right now I remember… I decided to just post my thoughts instead of writing everyone and responding to the good, the bad, and the oh so ugly.

Here are my thoughts in a nutshell about the Britney Spears incedents over the past few months and the interview -

When she initially was photographed driving with her son on her lap, I was contacted by a major newspaper to comment and I said I wouldn’t because as a celebrity having to deal with paparazzi hounding her, I figured she did it because she felt she was in danger and had to get away quickly. (And I know I personally would do anything to get my children out of harms way if I felt they were in danger.) Then that reporter let me in on a little secret … Britney had confessed earlier that day to just driving without putting her son in his rear facing car seat because she was “country”. Um ok. So much for me sticking up for her. lol

And then there was the high chair incident, and the walking in Manhattan and tripping as she held a glass of water/soda/tea incident. She is always in the media recently and it seems to always be something negative.

Then moms across the country started to come of out of the woodwork to defend Britney’s parenting skills.. her mothering abilities and bloggers have started to apologize for the mean things they said.

And I sit here admitting that the only parts of last night’s interview I saw were the clips I was shown while at the studio this morning. But believe me.. they were enough for me to be sure to not let either of my children attend a playdate hosted by Britney Spears until her life has the turn around she needs (and will eventually get.)
